DeepBlue was founded by Dr. James R. Rivet.
As an educator, consultant, researcher and founder of Study Smart La Jolla and DeepBlue Consultants, Dr. Rivet has a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a doctoral degree in Education from the University of Southern California (U.S.C.). An adjunct professor teaching graduate courses in Education, James has also taught grades K-12 in the San Diego Unified School District . He serves on several advisory committees and is a frequent speaker on Education at conferences throughout the country. The philosophies of individualized learning present in his writings and lectures inspire him to offer his expertise to families and organizations grappling with the ever-evolving challenges facing children who are not realizing their potential.
His deep experience and personal background make him perfectly positioned to take a holistic approach to his in-home consulting for families of children between the ages of 5 and 20.
Approach
With a compassionate approach, Dr. Rivet identifies where the breakdowns within a family setting exist and how to rebuild with positivity, confidence, and calm. The result? An individualized action plan for the entire family that sets students up for success. His experience with hundreds of individual families has led Dr Rivet to also offer his services to larger groups, following the same methodology.
When he’s not taking families from “chaos to calm,” James likes to spend time with his wife and two daughters, is an avid ocean swimmer, and loves to read.
